Lord, protector
in Poems
The cattle graze below
Their lives pass to and fro
Above moves a spectre
I am lord, protector
Demons, I keep at bay
Other ghouls stay away
The cattle sustain me
But never take I glee
Now there is another
My enemy not my brother
We share the same sire
But differ in desire
He visited at night
None could muster a fight
Late I witnessed this curse
Cattle forced to disperse
I had to confront him
His face weathered and grim
A behemoth in size
Under a Vampyre’s guise
A mirror he could be
Lived I across the sea
But peace did I demand
When I came to this land
The fight endured an age
Consumed by our own rage
At length I wore him down
Reclaimed my fallen crown
Echoes all around
No subjects have I found
Their fear drove them away
I must return my prey
Neighbouring towns I searched
On spires I watched and perched
One by one they return
For their homes do they yearn
The cattle graze below
Their lives pass to and fro
Above moves a spectre
I am lord, protector
