Rhythm
in Poems
The slow build is almost unheard
Some attempt to continue undisturbed
With each note the distractions gain
Beginning to hold on for each refrain
Images appear through closed eyes
Sounds escorted by a visual prize
Dancing shapes soothing the senses
A crescendo as the body tenses
The world outside begins to fade
Thoughts trapped in the story being portrayed
Bodies sway and accept defeat
Hopelessly subservient to the beat
